Last Argument of Kings (The First Law, #3)Last Argument of Kings by Joe Abercrombie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Great story! Best of the three in the trilogy! I got a little tired of Baez by the end of it, and I was disappointed in the ending for some of the characters, but looking at the book and the series overall everything seems to fit. This is not your normal hero story. Say one thing for Joe Abercrombie, say he can spin a thrilling tale.

St. Baldrick's Foundation

This will be my fourth year of shaving my head for St. Baldrick's Foundation. Check out my website. As of this posting I have $350 in online donations and another $100 in the mail. I have less than 4 weeks (closer to 3) to reach my goal of $1000. I've made it under the wire the last two years and hope to keep up the tradition. It would be great if I didn't have to wait until the last day to reach it, but I'll take what I can get, or give for that matter.

Last year I knew of one kid in my Boy Scout Troop that had to deal with cancer. This last year I watched a kid I've known since the early days of Cub Scouts go through treatments. I hope, I wish, I pray, I believe that I will see significant advances in the diagnosis, treatment, and cure of cancer in my lifetime. No child should have to suffer like this.

Shaving my head is such a little thing to do to show support. I will continue to do it year after year, whether I have hair to shave or not.

Let your kids get dirty!

I've been saying this for years. Put away all the antibacterial washes, let the kids get dirty. Make them wash their hands when they come in from playing, but don't chase them with germ killer.

Change Your Attitude, Change the World

This is a great article I just read from Christianity Today's Faith In The Workplace website.
I used to tell one of my children, "You have an attitude problem." Needless to say, such remarks only made the situation worse.

A bad attitude can create absolute misery. We may feel that our attitude is justified, but it still makes us miserable. How does a person respond to someone with a bad attitude?

Camp Gerber dining hall collapses

I heard about this from a high school friend of mine.

[ link ]

This is the Boy Scout summer camp I went to for seven years of my youth. It was not the dining hall I used as a Scout. This one was built in 1997.

I am glad to hear that nobody was hurt, and I hope they will have everything all set for the upcoming summer.

Happy Veteran's Day

U.S. Army - USN - USAF - USMC

Veteran's Day is a holiday when we should show our appreciate to our Veteran's for the sacrifices they made simply doing their duty. Only thing is, to anyone that hasn't served (myself included) there is nothing simple about it. These men and women deserve alot more than a single day! If you see a serviceman or woman today (or any day) don't be afraid to tell them how much you appreciate what they do to protect your freedom!
